Freeware Boulder Dash Clones - MS DOS

Introduction

This is the freeware MS DOS section. Here you can find freeware Boulderdash games that run in MS DOS (an Operating System).

MS DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System) is the Operating System software developed for 16-bit Intel processors and shipped with the first IBM PCs, and until the introduction of Microsoft Windows. DOS uses a command-line user interface.

Because MS-DOS was used on older PCs, the games designed for DOS don't work very well on the modern PCs anymore. Especially Windows XP has a lot of problems with them, because it does not have a DOS interface anymore. You could try the DOSGames.com Windows XP hints to fix those problems. Fixing those problems should not be as intricate as fixing mens watches but it can be a little tricky at times. There are sites throughout the internet with directions on how to fix them or videos that you can watch for help, but there are other ways you can play. Another option is using a DOS emulator like DOSBox. That's a program to imitate the old MS-DOS Operating System.

Game name: Repton 3 Conversion
Author/publisher: Jasper Renow-Clarke
Year of publishing: Unknown
Homepage: Unknown
Platforms: MS DOS
If you're looking for a PC version of Repton, this is a good game to start with. It utilizes all the objects that appeared in Repton 3 and reads original Repton 3 data files, so if you have some old levels, there is no need to convert them for this game reads the level files in perfectly. As far as I can see in the version on this website there is only one bug, you can't die (but is that a bad thing? :) ). Sadly the version here has only a dumb editor (for viewing levels only).
